20/20/20 rule
Robin Sharma well described and wrote this rule in his The 5 AM Club book. When I first read it, I was excited and impatient to implement it the next morning. What is it about?
The first hour of the morning is split into 3 parts by 20 minutes each.
The first 20 minutes
What does it include? | Why? | Benefits |
– Intense exercise – Sweat hard – Hydrate – Breathe deeply | – Cleanses cortisol – BDNF flows – Dopamine rises – Serotonin increases – Metabolism Elevates | – More focus and productivity – Brain optimized – Energy grows – Less stress – Live longer |
Avoid checking social media, the first 20 minutes part requires you to move, and do some intense exercise until you sweat hard. It is essential as it wakes up your sluggish body and mind, gets the blood flowing, and oxygen to the brain. Once you’re done with this part, you will feel more energetic for the day ahead. Training hard in the morning is a great game-changer, and it isn’t only about waking you up but electrifying your focus and energy and amplifying your self-esteem and discipline, and launching your productive day in a way that makes you feel on fire.
A very important element of this formula is that you should make sure you sweat because in that way the hard workout releases BDNF in your brain.
Probably, you’ve never heard of BDNF before, but it’s time to start giving this powerful protein some attention. What is a Brain-derived neurotrophic factor? It helps your brain cells grow and survive – which means that you need them for cognitive function as you age! In addition, the presence or absence of these proteins can have an impact on memory formation (and recall).
The second part of 20 minutes
What does it include? | Why? | Benefits |
– Write in your journal – Meditate – Plan – Pray – Contemplate | – Gratitude boosted – Awareness soars – Happiness lifts – Wisdom develops – Serenity Expands | – Greater positivity – Decreased reactivity – Higher creativity – Stronger performance – Richer live |
When you think of a high achiever, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s someone who is wealthy, or maybe it’s someone powerful. But what if I told you that there is a morning routine that all high achievers have in common? This morning routine includes journaling, meditating, and praying, and it has the power to change your personal and professional life for the better.
How Journaling Boosts Gratitude and Positivity
One of the first steps in the morning routine of a high achiever is journaling. This step is important because it allows you to begin your productive day with gratitude. When you take the time to write down what you are grateful for, you are training your brain to look for the positive in every situation. This positivity will carry over into every area of your life, including your relationships, your work, and your health. Not only that but gratitude has been scientifically proven to boost happiness and productivity levels. So start your productive day off right by taking a few minutes to journal about what you are grateful for. You’ll be glad you did!
The Power of Meditation
The next step in the morning routine of a high achiever is meditation. Meditation has been shown to increase awareness, focus, and creativity. It also decreases stress and anxiety levels. If you’re new to meditation, don’t worry—it’s not as difficult as it sounds. There are many guided meditations available online and on apps like Headspace that can help you get started. All you need is a quiet space and a few minutes to clear your mind and focus on your breath. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel after just a few minutes of meditation!
The third part of 20 minutes
What does it include? | Why? | Benefits |
– Review goals and urgent tasks – Read books – Consume Audiobooks – Listen to podcasts – Study online | – The 2x3x Mindset – Knowledge deepens – Acumen Escalates – Confidence accelerates – Master change | – Better income + impact – Craft calibrates – Domain dominance – Personal growth – Inspiration rises |
The 2x3x Mindset and How You Can Achieve It
In his book, The 5 AM Club, world-renowned leadership expert, Robin Sharma, reveals a revolutionary way to think about time in order to achieve more in less time instead. Put simply, the 2x3x mindset is the belief that if you want to double your income and impact triple your investment in two core areas: your personal master and your professional capability.
How you spend your morning sets the tone for the rest of the day.
If you begin your productive day with intention and focus, you’ll be more likely to achieve your attainable goals and stay on track throughout the day. But if you hit snooze and start scrolling through social media, you’re more likely to feel sluggish and unproductive.
Review Your Goals
The first step in my morning routine is to review my life goals. I take a few minutes to read over my goals for the day, week, month, and year. This helps me get clear on what I need to do that day to move closer to my long-term objectives.
Read Books or Consume Audiobooks
After reviewing my goals, I spend 20 minutes reading books or listening to audiobooks. Reading has helped me gain knowledge in various fields, deepen my understanding of complex concepts, and calibrate my writing style. It has also helped me become a better thinker and problem-solver. Audiobooks are a great alternative if you’re not a fan of reading! You can listen to them while getting ready in the morning or during your commute to work.
Listen to Podcasts
Podcasts are a great way to learn new things and get inspired. They also have the added benefit of being entertaining! I like to listen to podcasts that teach me new skills or provide insights on interesting topics.
Get enough sleep
We all know how important it is to get enough sleep. Most people need around eight hours of sleep per night. If you’re not getting enough sleep, you’re more likely to feel tired and sluggish during the day and also look like a night owl. You may also have trouble focusing on your work and have a sense of being less productive. To make sure you’re getting good sleep, establish a bedtime routine and stick to it as much as possible.
Why is Sleep Important?
There are many reasons why sleep is so important. When we sleep, our bodies are able to repair themselves and restore their energy levels. Sleep also helps to improve our moods, cognitive function, and overall physical health. If we don’t get sleep well, we put ourselves at risk for a number of problems, including obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and depression.
How Much Sleep Do You Need?
Most people need around eight hours of sleep per night. However, some people may need more or less depending on their age, lifestyle, and health condition. For example, young children and adolescents may need up to 10 hours of sleep per night while adults may only need 7-8 hours.
Tips for Getting a Good Night’s Sleep
There are a few things you can do to make sure you’re getting enough good sleep. First, establish a bedtime routine and stick to it as much as possible. This means setting a specific time for when you’ll go to bed and wake up each day. It’s also important to avoid caffeine and other stimulants before bedtime. Additionally, create a relaxing environment in your bedroom by making sure it’s dark, quiet, and cool. Finally, avoid watching television or working on the computer in bed; reserve your bed for sleeping only.
Eat healthy food
Eating healthy is important for many reasons. It can help you maintain a healthy weight, have more energy, and avoid diseases. When you eat healthy foods, you are giving your body the nutrients it needs to function properly. These nutrients include vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
processed foods are empty calories that can lead to weight gain. They are high in calories but low in nutrients. Eating too many processed foods can also lead to health problems like heart disease and diabetes. That’s why it’s important to focus on eating whole foods instead.
What is whole food?
Whole foods are minimally processed and free from chemicals and additives. They are unrefined and unprocessed, which means they retain all of their natural nutrients. Examples of whole foods include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats.
Why are whole foods important for a productive day?
Eating healthy is important for many reasons. It can help you lose weight, have more energy, avoid diseases, and live a healthier life overall. Whole foods are an important part of a healthy diet because they provide your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly. So next time you’re at the grocery store, make sure to stock up on fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats!
Set a daily schedule
A daily schedule is important for a variety of reasons. First, it helps you to stay on track by ensuring that you complete the priority tasks you need to accomplish each day. Secondly, it can help you to be more productive by allowing you to block out time in your calendar to complete those important tasks. Lastly, a daily schedule can help to reduce stress and anxiety by providing structure and routine. Let’s take a closer look at each of these benefits in more detail.
The first benefit of a daily schedule is that it helps you stay on track. This is because it allows you to plan your day in advance and make sure that you allocate time for each important task. This is especially important if you have a lot of tasks to complete in a short period of time.
The second benefit of a daily schedule is that it can help you be more productive. This is because when you know what needs to be done and when you are less likely to procrastinate or waste time on activities that are not productive.
The third benefit of a daily schedule is that it can help to reduce stress and anxiety. This is because having a set routine can provide a sense of structure and order in your life. When your days are chaotic and disorganized, it can be easy to feel stressed and anxious. However, when you have a daily schedule, you can relax knowing that everything is under control and there is an action plan in place. This sense of calm can lead to reduced stress levels and improved mental well-being.
Take breaks
We live in a society that values productivity above all else. We are expected to work long hours, take on multiple responsibilities, and always be available. This can lead to burnout, which is when you feel exhausted and unable to continue working at the same pace. Burnout can have serious consequences on your mental and physical health, so it’s important to avoid it by taking breaks throughout the day.
There are many benefits to taking breaks, even if they’re just a few minutes long. Breaks give your mind a chance to rest and rejuvenate so you can come back to your work feeling refreshed and ready to focus. They also help you avoid burnout by giving you a chance to step away from your work and come back to it with fresh eyes. In addition, taking breaks can improve your physical health by giving you a chance to move your body and get some fresh air in nature, instead of surfing on social media.
Avoid distractions
There are multiple external factors that come into play. In today’s age of constant multitasking, it’s more important than ever to be able to not lose focus and avoid distractions. Distractions can come in many forms, such as your phone, emails, social media, or even just other people around you. While it may seem like you’re getting more done by multitasking, the reality is that you’re actually hurting your productivity. When you’re trying to be focused on a task, eliminating distractions is key.
How to Avoid Distractions
Now that we’ve gone over some of the dangers of distractions, let’s talk about how to avoid them. One of the best ways to avoid distractions is to plan ahead and create a distraction-free environment for yourself. This may mean setting up a designated workspace in your home or office where you can close the door and eliminate any potential sources of distraction. If you have trouble avoiding distractions when working on your own, there are now coworking spaces that provide a distraction-free environment for professionals who work remotely.
Stay organized
If you want to be productive, you need to be organized. It’s as simple as that. When you’re organized, you know what needs to be done and you can prioritize your time accordingly. You’re also less likely to waste time because you’re not constantly looking for things or trying to remember what it is you need to do. Staying organized is the key to being productive.
There are a few different ways you can stay organized. One way is to keep a planner where you can write down what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. This can be especially helpful if you have a lot of deadlines or commitments. Another way to stay organized is to create a storage system that works for you. This could be something as simple as putting all of your school supplies in one place so you know where they are when you need them.
The organization isn’t just about keeping track of your things; it’s also about your time management. That’s why it’s important to set aside time each day for specific tasks. For example, if you know you have an assignment due at the end of the week, don’t wait until the last minute to start working on it. Set aside sometime each day to work on it little by little so that come Friday, all you have left to do is proofread and hand it in. This will save you a lot of stress in the long run.
Being organized takes effort but it’s worth it because it makes life so much easier. A little bit of organization can go a long way in helping you achieve your life goals and reach your full potential.
Delegate
The Power of Delegation
Trying to do everything yourself will only lead to burnout. If you have tasks that can be delegated, don’t hesitate to ask for help. Delegation is a skill that is essential for success in any field. Here’s why:
When you delegate, you free up your time to focus on what you’re good at. Instead of trying to do everything, you can be more focused on the things that you’re good at and delegate the rest. This allows you to work more efficiently and get more done in less time.
The delegation also allows you to build a team of people who can help you achieve your personal goals. With good team communication and great people working with you, you can get more done than if you were working alone. A team can also provide support and motivation when things get tough.
Delegation is a key skill for success in any field. When you delegate, you free up your time to focus on your strengths, build a team of people who can help you achieve your goals, and show that you trust the people around you. Next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember the power of delegation and ask for help!

Reward yourself
Why Rewarding Yourself is So Important for achieving a productive day
Self-discipline is one of the most important virtues a person can have. It’s what helps us get out of bed on time in the morning, hit our deadlines at work, and eat healthy meals even when we’re feeling lazy. But as important as self-discipline is, it’s not something that comes naturally to everyone. In fact, for some of us, it can be downright difficult to stick to our goals. That’s why it’s so important to reward ourselves when we do manage to practice self-discipline.
How to Reward Yourself
Get yourself a small treat
This could be anything from your favorite food or drink to a new book or trinket. The key is to make sure it’s something you’ll appreciate and that won’t set you back too much financially.
Take a break
If you’ve been working hard and feel like you need a break, then go ahead and take one! Whether it’s watching your favorite movie, taking a long walk, or just putting your feet up for an hour or two, taking some time for yourself will help you recharge and come back even more determined to reach your realistic goals.
Plan an event
Sometimes the best reward is something to look forward to. So if you’ve been wanting to see a particular concert or visit a certain city, start planning your trip and give yourself something exciting to look forward to.
Treat yourself with kindness
One of the best ways to reward yourself is by being extra kind and patient with yourself. We can be our own worst critics, so cut yourself some slack and give yourself a break every once in a while. You deserve it!
Rewarding yourself may seem like a silly thing to do, but it’s actually quite important. By treating ourselves kindly and giving ourselves small rewards when we accomplish our personal goals, we’re sending the message that our hard work has paid off. This will help us stay motivated and continue to work hard even when things get tough. So go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back—you deserve it!
